Adam (AJ) Zeglen: Manager/Head Strength Coach, Focus Fitness
AJ has worked extensively with professional, collegiate, and amateur athletes from around the world. He is the manager and head strength coach at Focus Fitness where he brings over 10 years of experience and his unique brand of training techniques to athletes and the general public alike. He comes from a diverse training background having competed in a multitude of different sports including basketball, rugby, playing football for the University of Manitoba Bison’s, competing in Natural Bodybuilding at a National level, running the Manitoba marathon, and holding a world record for the world’s longest car push in 24 hours. AJ has trained athletes in a variety of sports ranging from racquetball to football, he has worked with Hockey Canada, the Winnipeg Jets and many other hockey and football players from development ages to a number of different NHL, AHL, KHL, ECHL and CFL players. It drives AJ to help people attain their goals and realize their dreams. He enjoys helping people become the best versions of themselves and truly believes working out in the gym helps people find that.
Kris graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology in 2016 and is currently enrolled in the Masters of Physiotherapy program at the University of Manitoba. His desire to help individuals achieve their goals drives him to continue expanding his knowledge on exercise and the human body. Kris comes from a diverse athletic background; he continues to play soccer at a competitive level and occasionally tosses on the pads when his athletes need an extra goalie on the ice. In the gym he enjoys long farmer walks on the turf, dead lifts, and Saturday morning conditioning. He believes in building a strong working relationship with all his clients and strives to help them reach the highest levels.
Nick studied at Saint Ambrose University in Davenport Iowa and graduated with a Bachelors of Science, Majoring in Exercise Science and Minoring in Future Health Professional. As a student athlete, Nick played all 4 years of College Lacrosse at Saint Ambrose University, and was named Team Captain in his Junior and Senior year and is the Head Coach of the Vincent Massey High School Lacrosse Program. Nick is currently training to represent Team Philippines in the FIL World Lacrosse Games in 2022. During the the summer, Nick also enjoys mountain biking and bikes 30km every weekend in Whiteshell Provincial Park.
Haylee graduated from the University of Manitoba with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and a minor in Psychology. Since becoming a Strength and Conditioning coach Haylee has enjoyed working with athletes of all levels of fitness. She enjoys working out with her clients and creating meaningful relationships with each member.
Haylee enjoys spending her free time with her family and staying active. Haylee takes a health and wellness perspective to working out and believes health outside of the gym is equally as important as in the gym. Haylee’s approach to working out is a strong emphasis on strength, power, conditioning, and functional movements.
Riley graduated from the University of Manitoba and received his Bachelor of Kinesiology with distinction in 2018. Riley has a multi-sport background focusing on hockey and basketball. He began training and acquiring exercise knowledge at an early age and enjoys motivating, empowering, and inspiring all individuals with his exercise knowledge. Riley continues to progress himself physically and mentally through multi-dimensional training. His favourite form of exercise is resistance training and conditioning. In his spare time Riley enjoys spending time outdoors, camping and exploring the wilderness and would like to train to complete a triathlon!
Steph started training at focus in 2013 as an aspiring college hockey player. After completing her 4 year playing career at Syracuse University she graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biochemistry and is pursuing a career in medicine. Her desire to encourage individuals to live a healthy lifestyle through physical activity and proper nutrition drives her to continue expanding her knowledge on current health and wellness literature. Steph’s experience as a collegiate athletes has exposed her to a wide array of different training approaches and techniques. Outside the gym she enjoys playing hockey, soccer and tennis, apending time with her family and friends and eating food. In the gym she enjoys long interval runs on the treadmill, bench press and Saturday morning conditioning workouts.
