Summer 2020 – Power Skating 2011’s

Skating is the foundation in which the game is built on and all players regardless of position need to be able to move around the ice efficiently to be effective. All players have two different branches of skating; skating speed (without the puck) and puck speed (with the puck).  The goal for players should be to bring their puck speed up to their skating speed so they can go just as fast with the puck as they can without it.

This summer, Jets Hockey Development will be offering players who want to get better the opportunity to enroll in a training program where they can work on specific skating topics needed to play the game at the highest levels. Designed by Dave Cameron, these specific programs will allow players to work through detailed progressions which will allow players to see improvements.

Sessions will cover in detail;

Forward SkatingConfined Space Footwork (stop & start)
Backward SkatingLateral Mobility
Edge DevelopmentTransition Skating (all options)
Acceleration Through EdgesLateral Cross Overs
Acceleration (moving & stationary)And more…

 “Having players learn why they are doing things and where they will skate like this in a game is a huge part of the program. The more players understand the concepts of good skating mechanics, the better they will be able to execute them.” – Dave Cameron (Head Coach & Program Director Jets Hockey Development)
